Utah Jazz
The Utah Jazz, an American professional basketball team based in Salt Lake City, Utah, that compete as a member club of Northwest Division of Western Conference in the National basketball Association (NBA). The franchise originally based in New Orleans, whose famous music history gave the Jazz its name. It began to play in 1974 as the New Orleans Jazz, an extension team formed in New Orleans. The Jazz relocated to Salt Lake City in 1979. Since 1991, the team has played its county games at Vivint Smart Home Arena. Quin Snyder is head coach of the team since June 2014.
The Jazz in their early years were one of the least successful teams in the league. Although 10 seasons gone before the Jazz qualified for their first playoff emergence in 1984, after that they did not miss the playoffs again until 2004. During the late 1980s, John Stockton and Karl Malone came up as the franchise players for the team, and formed one of the most renowned point guard- power forward pairs in NBA history. The team got two conference titles in 1997 and 1998 led by Coach Jerry Sloan, who took over for Frank Layden in 1988 and became one of the most motivational teams of the 90’s. They were defeated both times by Chicago Bulls, led by Michael Jordan. The Jazz got eight times division titles i.e. in 1984, 1989, 1992, 1997, 1998, 2000, 2007 and 2008.
