Detroit Lions Season
The Detroit Lions are a professional football team of America based in Detroit, Michigan. They are playing as a member club in the North Division of the National Football Conference of the National Football League. The Detroit Lions were originally named as the Portsmouth Spartans and were based in Portsmouth, Ohio. The team officially joined the National Football League on July 12, 1930, and started to play in the 1930 season. Thus the team was purchased by George Richards and a group of other investors and relocated to Detroit for the 1934 season. The team was renamed as the Detroit Lions and won their first National Football League championship in 1935. The Lions play their home games at Ford Field in Downtown Detroit, Michigan and is headquartered in Allen Park, Michigan. The present head coach of the team is Jim Caldwell and owner is Martha Firestone Ford.
